Support IDFNZ KIDS Foundation with 'JEANS FOR GENES'

Genes For Genes Day - Monday 28th February

Turning back to School Blues into Fun as you support IDFNZ KIDS Foundation

Dear Members and supporters

Rare Disease Day is a time when the international community of affected patients and families work together to build support for their efforts.

We challenge you to Organise or join a New Zealand Rare Disease Day event, and pay just a little for the privilege. Your contribution will help support groups that help improve the lives of people with rare diseases.

Imagine students in classrooms, business executives in boardrooms, and others from all walks of life wearing jeans on NZ Rare Disease Day - all to show their support for those affected by rare diseases.

Normally wear jeans at your workplace or school?

Then do something totally different that day. Get dressed up, or theme your workplace or classroom, and use that as the fundraising point of difference.

8 easy steps to a successful event:

1. Identify your chosen charity - we are asking that you select IDFNZ / KIDS FOUNDATION , supporting our medically fragile children affected by Primary immune deficiency disorders or requiring liver / bowel transplants. Pass on our website address where we have pamphlets that can be downloaded to explain these condions and give details of all the services we provide www.idfnz.org.nz

2. Talk to the principal at school, (the manager in the work place, or your friends at your club or coffee group). Get their support for a Jeans for Genes day, or choose another theme for your fundraiser, for Rare Disease Day.

3. Get the promotional Rare Disease Day flyer pinned up on notice boards and distribute the publicity material. The link is on our website.

4. Recruit people to take part in the event. Get them to commit via Facebook, via email, or by signing on at a central point.

5. Make sure a system is in place for donations to be collected, counted and checked off by a second person, to verify the total.

6. Notify the support group of the amount raised and tell them how it has been sent to them - e.g. bank deposit, online payment, cheque, etc, or send the funds to NZORD, tagged for your chosen group - IDFNZ / KIDS FOUNDATION

7. Report the total back to all who took part. A copy of the bank receipt on a noticeboard is a good way of doing this. Depositing the funds through the school office or the workplace accountant is another good way of ensuring confidence in the fundraiser.

8. Send a message of thanks and acknowledgement to all those who took part in the event. If you can send us details/photos we will be happy to write to your school and publish the photos on our website. IDFNZ would also like to offer a suprise gift to the school which comes up with the most unique activity to celebrate their blue day!

Remember

Donate online to the NZORD rare disease donations account ANZ Bank 01 0533 0042051 02. Remember to show the rare disease name and IDFNZ KIDS Foundation as your selected support group name in the online reference.

Looking forward to hearing about your fun Day!
