South Island Respite Home

The First South Island Respite home made it first public appearance at the Auckland Home Show last week. Thousands of people attending the show were able to see it first hand and learn all about the Foundation and our efforts to provide respite breaks for families.

The home will be travelling down to Christchurch for the Canterbury Home Show October 16th - 18th , before making its way to Cromwell to its new home at Bannockburn. The home will be officially opened in December and available to patient families for the summer holiday period.

This is very exciting news for our South Island members who have been fundraising for almost two years now.

The home is a modern GO-Homes 'new generation' caravan - it has three bedrooms and will sleep 8 people. It is fully insulated and double glazed , and Novus Systems Ltd and Mitsubishi Electric have kindly donated a heat pump a/c unit to ensure it is kept warm in winter and cool in the hot summer climate of this region. Situated overlooking the waterfront, with mountain views all around - this will be a tranquil retreat for our families.

The Home will be located at the Cairnmuir campsite at Bannockburn, just a few kilometers from Cromwell township. Steve and Martine McDowell the managers of the site, are keen to welcome our families to their blissful haven. There is so much to do nearby - families can choose to relax in a peaceful setting , or venture out to see the local sights .

Bookings will be open from December onwards via our normal booking process.
